Course Description
Joseph Pilates developed a series of rehabilitation exercises focused on what he called the “powerhouse” of the body over 50 years ago. His core stabilization programs and movement principles are appropriate for all types of clients and patients. The Institute has designed this 18 hours course to explore the scientific side of Pilates. This program was designed specifically for licensed health care professionals who already have an excellent grasp of anatomy. Class time is spent on proper form, function and progression. The science behind Pilates movement is explored by breaking down each exercise from the perspective of biomechanics, kinesiology and pathology. The curriculum includes the latest research on the multifidus, transverse abdominis, diaphragm and pelvic floor.
This course is the prerequisite for all of the other Pilates courses. It is a required course to become a Certified Pilates Instructor “CPI”. For more information on the Pilates Certification Process: Click Here.
